Farnella was one of 5 vessels requisitioned from Hull for war service as minesweepers in the Falklands war 1982 with Cordella , Junella, Northella, and Pict they were refitted at Rosyth and sailed from portland for the Falklands on 27 Apr as part of 11th Mine Countermeasures Squadron. all crewmen that were made redundant when the vessels left Hull received full pay from the admiralty untill they returned.
