Fact File

12 Feb 1905 at 930am 15 miles from Reykjanes Light Iceland when the Princess Victoria H766 spotted a small boat on her port bow showing signals of distress on reaching the boat it was found to be from the Hull Trawler Brough which had run aground . There where 6 crewmen in the boat including the skipper, the boat was half filled with water and was leaking badly, with only one oar the boat was unmanagable. The skipper stated his vessel was ashore at Reykjanes and eight crewmen had got into the lifeboat but the mate and the boatswain had been washed out of her and drowned. All the crew barring the skipper where placed aboard the Imperialist bound for Hull, we searched for the stranded Brough along the coast but only found wreckage on the 15 Feb in clear weather the skipper of the Brough was placed ashore at Reykjavik
