Board Of Trade Inquiry 29th and 30th June and the 2nd of July 1937 Esquire, into the circumstances attending the stranding of the British steam trawler "Ocean Duke" of Hull, official number 149058, at Kraakeneset, which resulted in serious damage to the vessel. The Court having carefully inquired into the circumstances attending the above-mentioned shipping casualty finds, that the stranding was caused by the wrongful act and default of Arthur Duffield, the skipper of the steam trawler "Ocean Duke." The stranding was found to be through wrongful act of Skipper Duffield in failing to identify a buoy resulting in serious damage of the vessel. The skipper ought to have obtained the services of a Norwegian pilot before trying to navigate the fjord. Certificate suspended for 3 months. |
