On Nov 13th 1942 While escorting a convoy the Destroyer Isaac Sweers, was torpedoed by U431, out of 194 men only 84 survived. During the sinking, the trawler Loch Oskaig tried to go alongside the burning destroyer, but had to abandon her plans due to the heavy fires and exploding ammunition.
