Fate : 25 Dec 1973 struck rocks in Havoy sund fjord, North Norway on Christmas Day.2 liferafts were launched after the grounding, 15 crewmen took one, the Skipper and 5 others taking the remaining raft which had not inflated properly and capsized, 3 of the men in this raft drowned. The Ian Flemming sank on the 5th Jan.

ATKINSON - DAVID 38 ( Skipper ) Broadley Avenue Anlaby. After an enquiry Skipper Atkinson was declared a risk and the Insurance companies refused to Insure him as a Skipper. Skipper Atkinson vowed to fight the decision. A proposal to suspend Skipper Atkinson for 3 years was made.He had been a Skipper for 7 years before the loss of the Ian Flemming.
