Fate : 07 - 08 Apr 1938 The Angus while returning from the Icelandic fishing grounds, grounded close to Hoevdi Rock on the Shetland Isles. After the fo`castle and engine room had taken on much water the crew of the vessel took to the lifeboat, they then spotted the Aberdeen Trawler Strathrye which picked up the crew and headed for the Angus which had come off the reef. The skipper of the Angus and the Skipper of the Strathrye took some of the Angus`s crew and reboarded the vessel. the Angus was then lashed to the Strathrye and taken in tow. After towing the vessel for about 4 hours the tow rope broke and the Angus which had been taking on water subsequently sank about 2 miles off Fitful Head.
